Project Tittle: 

Comparison of the Students of Primary School in China and in Britain

Content:

Present the more difference between the students of primary school in China and in Britain. Include their school life, their spare time, the way of their teacher teaching, and the method of education. I choose the year 1 as an example to represent.

 

Audience:

 

I want to do it for people who care about the children’s happiness, the education, and for parents who want to know more about children, and how to educate their children, all live in estern countries and western countries.

 

Approach:

 

I choose documentary to represent my project. Because I think documentary which depicts the reality, have more power to influence audience, and to make them to believe. I will use voiceover to introduce and describe, and add some interviews about students as well. It is very lively to communicate with audience.

 

Research:

 

 

I am working in a primary school as a volunteer from last week, and I have the experience of study in primary school in China. I know more about the students how to study in China, and I strongly feel different. I think my project will be good, depending on my self experience, the skills in directing and editing, and the enthusiasm of caring about the education. Besides, I remembered a documentary which I wacthed two years ago, called Kindergarten, impressed me deeply.

Resources:

I need two primary schools to let me film, one is in Britain, another is in China. All students in Year 1 in Britain, and in one class of Year 1 in China. Some students for their spare time, and my interviews.

For filming it , I need a video camera and a microphone.

I think the budget is a little large, because of the part will film in China.

 

 

About CLOVERFIELD

 

It is a more impressive film I have ever seen. It shoted in a different way ,and made audience felt they experienced by themselves in this film.

The whole film like a documentry, looked like a real situation, not the imaginary story. Whatever, it is an unusual film in produced way. It is worth to watch.

310MC Final Presentation

What has worked? & What has pleased you?

In this term, I produced three artifacts about Memory, Power, and Spectacle, which can find on my main page. I know I have to do some reaserch about these three themes, and choose the useful aspects to help my own projects. Sometimes, the idea is just come out without any reasons, so the reaserch part is poor in my work.

Although the spectacle of Christmas is not finished as a published artifact, I really enjoy this progress when I was doing it. To be honest, I am not satisfied  whit these 3 atifacts I have made, but I hope I can do more about the project of Christmas. As a record of the first year in Britain, spending the new year not with my family, but friends, it will be a special archive for me.

What work has influenced you? How?

For me, I think the artifact of power has influenced me. Initially, I just think about the curiosityof people, and what make them look cold, even unfriendly sometimes. It is a strong idea in my opinion, but I felt a little helpless when I was going to repsent this idea. Almost one month ago, I saw two old ladies fell down on the ground in Birmingham, only 2 or 3 people run to them to give a helping hand, and most of people who passed by, just turned around to see what happened, did not stop to help the old ladies. I was really shocked that moment, even I have seen it several times in China. I just wonder, if that person who falls down is your relatives, or your parents, what you will do? And what will you wish the people do who pass by? I only know it may be an important idea, but I am not sure about how to repsent it in a better form.

 

What has gone wrong? what have you leanrt?

I have edited some different short films in different types, but I am not good at filming. Before I filmed my first artifact, I have imagined every frame it would be, but when I really started to film it, I found it was difficult for me to sellect the right image in different angles, which I think I can get the frame I want. Although the final one is ok, I learnt a lot during I try to film by myself . I think I will do better, and have a feeling about the frame I can see through the lens.

What things have you made? What have you experimented with?

My projects which I did in China, and the 1st artifact all used the Pro Premiere to edit, I like making video, but I want to make something new, I only know a little about the Photoshop, so I  try to use it to edit some photos, and make me familiar with its tools and effects.

 

What new things will you try? What are you going to develop?

At first, I want to represent the idea of power through the animation, but I don not know how to use the software to create a work. Because this artifact, I desire to learn how to make the animation during Christmas Holiday. Additionally, I will make myself to uesd to do the reaserch about all my ideas, because it is very necessary to record the things and ideas in my daliy life.

ABOUT CINEMA VERITE

Cinema Verite movement is happened in 1960s, and the directors want to shot without a script and actors, use the small hand-held cameras, actual location and small budget. Their aim is to show life as it really is.(http://www.parlez-vous.com/misc/realism.htm)

 

Through the portable equipments, audience will see the people’s real life, like DON’T LOOK BACK, filmed by D.A.Pennebaker, recorded the life of one of the famous singers, Bob Dylan. The whole film is a part of his life, including his some concerts, the moments he wrote songs, the newspaper’s interview, and so on. It did not use the gorgeous places, or the famous locations, only use the usual surroundings, but we can really know it is the truth.

 

And another thing in this type of film, need our concern, I think is the editing. Because of non-scrip, after recorded , the director have to familar with all video sources and find the relation between every event they filmed, then he can decide how to link the different frames. According to above, I think it requires a lot in editing.

 

Nowadays, as a filmmaker, it is hard to avoid the influence from the commercial film, due to the big profit and a lot of mass audience. In my opinion, I think it is a treasurable spirit of filmmaker, as all films are based on real life, it should show the life we really live.

This is a impressive march, and I think everyone in China can not forget that day. We saw our strong army, and high technology in the end of 20 century. It held at TIAN ANMEN Square, in front of the TIAN ANMEN.

MEMORY

About this theme, I want to talk about my final year life in High School in China, because it was unforgetable moment for me. I think the people who never study in High School in China can not imagine how hard we study for entering the good university.

This our classroom, almost every one has a small book shelf by his/her side, because we have a lot books and reference resources. 

In that year, we have to woke up at half past 5 and started to study at near half past 6 in the morning almost everyday. we could be back in our accommodation until 10 in the evening. These days were filled with our dreams, so, even though we studied so harder, we felt happy and is worth.  

Before we left, we sold our resouces.

This is my good memory in my life, very, very happy time.

About The Five Obstructions

To be honest, it appeals to me. One is, because I am interested in editing some videos, and the way of editing in it I think it is good to express the meaning of the story that I can use in my projects. The second is the idea. It is about the process of making 4 different short films in same subject, and it is the problem we will face in the future. The same subject in different situations can be filmed in different genres, different manners and different order.

 

Maybe it is so boring for someone if they are not interested in the production and know a little about the process of the production, but it is useful for me to know a lot about how to make a film.
